Universal Language of Music with Ivana Johnston

A brief description of what listeners can expect…

A variety of music from different countries and different languages.

Q1: What is your Presenter name?

Ivana Johnston

Q2: Describe your show in 5 words:

Refreshing memories through language traveling.

Q3: Why did you get involved with CamGlen Radio?

I found out about volunteering at CamGlen unexpectedly and quite accidently. I have never done anything that has to do with radio, but this felt like it could be one of those moments in life where you go with the flow, so I decided to give it a try.

Q4: What is your favourite show on CamGlen Radio (that isn’t your own)?

Lauren’s Love Hour

Q5: If you could interview anyone in the world who would it be and why?

My grandpa. He was an extraordinary man, survived both World Wars, full of life and wisdom. I remember him telling us many stories from his childhood and later life, but then I was a kid and I had a different perspective. Now, I would gladly listen all of them all over again, only this time from perspective of an adult and with so many questions.

Q6: What is your favourite ice cream flavour?

Pistachio

Q7: What is your favourite thing about Cambuslang and Rutherglen?

Sense of community.

Q8: Tell us three interesting facts about you:

1. I was dancing Serbian traditional folklore dance for 15 years. That was great period of my life, full of travels and adventures, with opportunities to get to know new countries, new people and their cultures and actually feel their national identity.

2. I am very fond of whisky. It’s the same type of drink as rakija – traditional Serbian drink, only rakija is made of fruit (usually plum) and whisky is made of grains (mainly barley). My favourite regions are Islay (undoubtedly) and Skye (Islands).

3. I love walking! For that I can thank my dad who used to take my brother and me for long walks. And also, because of my dad’s fast pace, not many people can keep up my pace even now.
